OTTAWA, ON — Ontario’s Big City Mayors (OBCM) will attend the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Conference in Ottawa from August 16–19, bringing together mayors from Ontario’s largest cities to advance shared priorities and strengthen collaboration with provincial, federal and municipal partners.
OBCM will host a joint meeting with the Mayors and Regional Chairs of Ontario (MARCO) and participate in delegations with provincial cabinet ministers. Key priorities for Ontario’s biggest cities include:
- Addressing the homelessness, mental health and addictions crisis
- Building more housing and the infrastructure needed to support growth
- Strengthening policing and public safety
Ontario’s largest cities are at the front line of delivering many of the services and infrastructure that support growing communities. At the same time, municipalities are responding to rising pressures in housing, homelessness, mental health, social services and public safety, while making significant investments in infrastructure to accommodate growth and renew aging assets.
Meeting these challenges requires strong partnerships across all orders of government. Municipalities bring local expertise, delivery capacity and a direct connection to the communities they serve. With provincial and federal partners at the table, governments can better align responsibilities, investments and long-term planning to deliver stronger outcomes for residents.
